Newzoo’s latest analysis reveals the ranking of public enterprises by game revenue shows healthy industry growth, positive impact of next-gen consoles and a continuous growth of mobile game companies.
The top 25 enterprises have generated over $12.9 billion in the first quarter of 2014 besides $11.6 billion earned in 2013, rising with 11%. Both Microsoft and Sony have had constant growths yearly, from their game revenues, to their successful launches their next-gen offerings, and money continued to come from current-gen games, also.
King’s $641million turnover just put Apple behind, being situated at number 7, based on the Newzoo ranking.
As a comparison King brought its company with 56% more than Nintendo, which occupied only the 10th place. However, Candy Crush Saga generated 2/3 of King’s revenues in the first quarter of 2014, amount that exceeds all Nintendo’s earnings in the first quarter put together.
We can also mention Japanese companies for mobile games, DeNa with a 27% depth and GREE, which reported an 18% depth. Also Square Enix had with 20% more revenues and SEGA only 8%. Konami had with 9% less than last year.
Disney’s Tencent, however, had generated the company over $1.7 billion in the first three months of 2014, encountering a 40% besides last year.
