Developer Next Games from Finland has announced today that it will receive a $6 million funding from a wide range of investors, private or institutional.
The company was created by veterans of Disney, Rovio and Supercell and has 2 projects at the present moment. Among the projects the studio is collaborating with AMC Networks on a mobile game based on The Walking Dead show.
In order to secure the funding, Next Games planned to have old and new financial supporters. The Series A funding
was conducted by IDG Ventures and Jari Ovaskainen, (an initial Supercell investor and the original substantial supporter for Next Games).
Next Games CEO Teemu Huuhtanen declared in a statement that “our funding was made possible by the pioneering work by established Scandinavian game development studios.” He then expressed his positive point of view about the investors: “It is a testament to the talent in the Nordic region where many of the most successful games in recent years have been created. The majority of our private investment is rooted in the United States and Asia, the world’s leading mobile app markets. I’m confident this diversity will lead to compelling games with broad global appeal and unique opportunities for partnerships, such as the one we currently have with AMC.”
